Every year, in June, the city of Versailles organize a cultural festival called Le Mois Molière. During a month, every night (and afternoons sometimes during the week-end), you can assist to concerts or theatrical representation.
Every year, France organized a cultural year, and presents a foreign country. This year is the year of Russia.
Good !!!
I don't know a lot of things about Russia, except Moscow, Saint Petersbourg, the Cold War and the Red Place. And Russian classic music, AND Russian Ballet !! See the number 10 of my Bucket List :
"10 - go to the ballet and see Swan Lake or the Nutcracker danced by the Russian Ballet"
Since the Russian year began, I saw one ballet at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, it was perfect. And unfortunately, I missed the Bolchoï when they came in December for The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
Because of the Russian Year, Versailles chose, this year, to plan a Russian evening during the Festival. Imagine, our "little" theatre (663 seats) was welcoming the ballerina Ulyana Lopatkina, the first ballerina of the Mariinsky Theatre (also known as Kirov Theatre). It was ... magical ! She was alone, dancing with only one guy, from the same theatre. And she chose to pay tribute to three others ballerinas of the Mariinsky : Anna Pavlova, Maya Plisetskaya and Galina Oulanova. Three different ballerinas, but three stars !!
Do you know that Maya Plisetskaya, born in 1925, never stop dancing ??!!! She's 85 !! Unbelievable !!!
It was an amazing ballet !
I know that another Russian company will dance in Paris this summer, I HAVE to buy some tickets !!

Oh, too bad you missed the Nutcracker in December. So close to getting to cross something off your bucket list. Hopefully, they'll perform again soon.
