Music for the King

I was thinking about my city ... about the Palace, the Kings, and all the thing Louis XIV made for the arts.

Love him or hate him, I don't care, but thanks to him, the France has it own culture and arts !

Here are some music (baroque music)

Idylle Sur la Paix, Air pour Madame la Dauphine - composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully

Marche pour la Cérémonie des Turcs (from Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme) - composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully

Le Triomphe de l'Amour - composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully

Te Deum - composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully

Maybe my favourite ! The one that killed Lully. The story says that he was conducting a rehearsal of the Te Deum, music that he composed for the King who was sick. The music was supposed to help him to recover. But the musicians never played like Lully wanted. He was beating time with his long staff, angry because of the musicians, he struck his toe. His injury became infected, he's been amputated of his toe, and nevertheless, his wound turned gangrenous. He died few days later, on March 22nd 1687.
The musician wants to save his King with a music, and finally dies because of his love for the King. Beautiful !!
