Symphony n°6 - The Pastoral - composed by Ludwig Van Beethoven
The concert was perfect.
Because it's a concert for the kids, it's not a "real" concert.
I mean, first part, they are discovering "what the music means" : they discover a classical masterpiece (today was about Beethoven) and discover technical details (today it was rhythm, tempi, crescendo ... there are so many things with Beethoven). And, at every detail they have to vote. For example, we heard an extract of The 5th Symphony (tatata-ta, tatata-ta....), and they were "learning" what the rhythm is. They listened to the real one, and then, the same extract, but played in a rhythm'n'blues version... And they had to vote.
The second part is, they listen to a text (today was a poem by Jacques Prévert) read on a contemporary music. The music, composed by Jean-François Alexandre (very nice, and look like Rhys Ifans, so funny) was soooooooo great. There was a horn "solo", it was sooooo good (and, ok, the horn player - Marc - is very good too, and the horn is a beautiful instrument !!). And after this beautiful part, a tango. First the cello, then flute and violins/viola, soooooooooo good !!
The third part is soundpainting. Today is was not the same guy, but he was very nice too.
We all had so much fun this morning at the rehearsal !!!!
And now, time to go to bed !!!!
Love the music. Very cool. Glad the concert turned out so well.
