Last Friday, I lost my Credit Card.
Lucky me, I work only three days/week in my office, and we have a kitchen, so, I don't need to buy food for lunch, just need to come with my bento.
I need cash or credit card for Starbucks and cigarettes. Nothing more.
Last week, when I called the bank, the guy told me that my new card will arrive at home, I needed to wait 8 or 10 days.
Three days of work, enough money, Friday evening, still 5 euros (maybe a little more) in my pocket ... Perfect ? Yes, no, maybe.
Thursday was holiday in France (end of WW1), and in the 8/10 days, I don't count week-end ... So today was not a week.
Mail : Two letters for me ! WOW.
First one, not so WOW :
"You have to pay 269 Euros : poll taxes for your apartment in Lyon"
"You have to pay 269 Euros : poll taxes for your apartment in Lyon"
WTF ? I left Lyon in July 2009, we paid last year for my year in 2008-2009, I don't have to pay this year ! I left !!! (So I have to call them ...)
Second one, WOW !!
The bank : Your new credit card is here, come to take it !

And now, the reason why I think that keeping money in a box in my garden is better :
- When I called, the guy asked me the name of my bank. I told him BNP Paribas and told him "but, I just changed my agency. I was in Versailles, now, since a week, I'm in Paris" "Ok"
- When I called, the guy told me "we will send you your new card",
I stopped the guy and said
"Wait a minute, you're sending my new card, OK, but do you send it in my old agency in Versailles or in the new one in Paris?"
"No no, we send it to you at home"
"Ok perfect"

- Today, letter, bank.
"Hi, I think you received my new credit card."
"Yes, let me check. No we don't, when did you received the letter ?"
"This morning"
"Let me check. It's in Paris"
WHAT ???

Two options :
- I call my new banker on Monday morning and ask him "WTF ? Can you please send it in Versailles ?"
(he needs to hear the WTF because, I already met him, for another meeting with my parents. I met him the day I lost my card and he wanted to know the happy ending. When I told him "the guy on the phone told me that it was impossible to call the agency... he said the same WTF !).
And so, I will have it on Tuesday or Wednesday (if it's at home) or Thursday (if it's at the bank)

or
- I leave work earlier on Monday to have my new credit card, and it's an happy ending...
Anyway, I was so happy when I saw the paper this morning, and I'm so sad now !!! 5 euros !!! I need cash for next week !!!
Enjoy this (rainyyyyyyyyyyyyyy) week-end !
aahh... it is the same story everywhere!!!! i really hope you get your card soon .. losing a card is a double pain - first you lose one , then getting a duplicate is more painful process !! take care
